Donna L. Collins, B.A., B.Comm. (Hons), FCIRP

Donna graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 1982 and the University of Manitoba in 1986. She received her license as a Trustee in Bankruptcy in 1988, obtaining the distinction of being the first woman to obtain that license in Manitoba. Specializing in the area of consumer and small business insolvency, Donna has practiced her entire career with Keith G. Collins Ltd. in Winnipeg and currently serves as its President.

In addition to her practice, Donna has dedicated time to the development of the insolvency profession. She has been a frequent presenter in the area of insolvency. In 2003, she authored a paper entitled “Discharge of Debtors – A Practical Perspective” and presented the paper in 5 major centres across Canada.

She has been a member of both the Manitoba and Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (MAIRP and CAIRP) since 1988, receiving a fellowship from CAIRP in 2003. She served on the executive committee of the Manitoba Association from 1993 to 1999, including being President of that Association from 1996 to 1998. In addition, she was a member of the board of directors of the Canadian Association from 1996 to 1999 serving as a member of the executive committee from 1996 to 1998.

She currently serves as Vice-Chair of CAIRP’s Honours and Awards committee; and is a Past Chair of the Canadian Insolvency Foundation (CIF), having been a board member of the Foundation from its inception in 2003 until 2010. Donna is also a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada.

Through her affiliation with the above associations, Donna has served the insolvency profession in various capacities in addition to those mentioned above. She was a member of the 1989 Board of Examiners, and a member of CAIRP’s Continuing Education Committee between 1993 and 1996, serving as Chair in 1996. She subsequently served on the Consumer Debtor Practice Committee, co-chairing that committee between 1999 and 2001. In addition she served on the CIF’s Awards Committee throughout the time she served on CIF’s board.

Donna continues to be a member of Manitoba’s Bankruptcy Practices Committee.

Douglas G. Collins, FCGA, FCIRP

Doug Collins is a graduate of Red River Community College, Business Administration program. He received his Certified General Accountant designation in 1989 and his license as a Trustee in Bankruptcy in 1995. Specializing in the area of consumer and small business insolvency, Doug has practiced his entire insolvency career with Keith G. Collins Ltd. in Winnipeg and currently serves as Vice-President..

Doug is a member of both the Manitoba and Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (MAIRP and CAIRP) and received a fellowship from CAIRP in 2010. He served on the executive of the Manitoba Association, including a term as President of that Association for the 2001/2002 year. In addition, he served on the board of directors of CAIRP from 2005 to 2009.

Doug has, and continues to serve on CAIRP committees. He was a member of CAIRP’s Continuing Education Committee for the 1997/1998 year, and again, as liaison to CAIRP’s board between 2006 and 2009. In addition, he has served on the Honours & Awards Nominating Committee, the Professional Conduct Committee and the NIQP Review Committee. He currently serves as a CAIRP practice advisor.

In addition to his practice and the time he has dedicated to the development of the insolvency profession, Doug has dedicated time to CGA Manitoba. After serving on numerous committees, including the executive committee, Doug served as President of CGA Manitoba for the 2003/2004 year. He received a fellowship from CGA Canada in 2003. Doug is a frequent presenter to various groups on insolvency related matters and practices primarily in Manitoba.
